Xcaret Hotel

by Camille Sperrazza

Perhaps it plans to be the Disneyland of Mexico!
The absolutely stunning  all-inclusive Xcaret Hotel opened the end of December 2017 in Riviera Maya. Built around beautiful Xcaret Park, staying here means complimentary admission to hotel's six parks that are spread throughout this part of Mexico -  Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xoximilco and Xenses, as well as tours to Xenotes and Xichen.

It's incredible value for the money.
Of course these parks don't have Disney-type rides. Instead, they offer experiences such as snorkeling; swimming with dolphins and through natural caves; zip-lining; and more. Yet, if one does none of the above, it's worth spending time at these archeological wonders, immersed in the beauty of rivers, tropical fish, giant turtles, and rich Mayan history. The hotel provides all transportation, and some of the parks include unlimited food and drinks.

The Xcaret Hotel is comprised of five buildings centered around a river. Each building is called a "casa," and named: Spiral, Water, Wind, Earth, and Fire. The Fire and Water Houses are for adults only.

There are 900 rooms in all.  The fifth floor connects all the houses, a plus that means one won't have to walk outdoors in the heat or across the many swinging bridges that link areas.

Numerous caves, nooks and crannies abound. The resort transforms these fascinating coves into event space for destination weddings and private parties. Talk about impressing your guests - this is the definition of a unique venue - and the resort says it permits only one wedding per day so the choice of space is yours.

Should the rain gods decide it will pour on your wedding day, even the indoor venues are alluring. One can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. Another, with its windowed walls, offers such spectacular views, you'll feel like you are outdoors.

Restaurants and guest rooms are decorated with Mayan artifacts, stones, and paintings. The entire facility is a work of art. The person who toured it with me said it was the most beautiful resort he had ever seen.

Ten Xcaret resorts are expected to be built in this immediately vicinity, including an adults only beachfront property.
Like Disney's Magical Express, Xcaret Hotel takes you back and forth from the airport too.
